Updated start of June 2017

I don’t know about you, but Cheese, Crackers and Dip on a Friday evening is one of my favourite things in the world.

I have spent a LOT of time reviewing pretty much every dip on the supermarket shelf to be able to bring you this list of the best low carb ready made dips. Lets face it – we don’t all own a Thermomix or have time to make our dips from scratch!!! Enjoy X

Our criteria – 5g carbs or less per 100g and where possible no sugar added.

The Pure Produce Company – White Hommus

Ingredients:

Tahini, chickpeas, lemon juice, vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, tomato, water, garlic, salt, onion, cumin, turmeric, pepper, chilli.

Carbs per 100g: 3.5g

Comments:

Our top pick, as finding a low carb hommus isnt easy 🙂  – I’m not quite sure how White Hommus is different to normal Hommus but never the less this is a great option.

YUM.

Pilpel Garlic Dip

Ingredients:

Sunflower oil, antioxidant tocopherol concentrate, garlic, water, salt, citric acid.

Carbs per 100g: 1.5g

Comments:

  • No Added sugar in this one and lots of flavour.
  • You only need the tiniest amount.
  • You could also add a little to other dips for an extra garlic hit.

Wattle Grove Persian Style Fetta Dip

Ingredients:

Cream Cheese, Salt, stabiliser, Canola Oil, Feta cheese Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Chives, Garlic, Salt, herbs and Spices, preservatives.

Carbs per 100g: 1.8g

Comments:

  • No Added sugar in this one and lots of flavour. You could also look at cream cheese and adding your favourite herbs and spices yourself.
  • Creating a homemade version of this wouldn’t be too tricky 🙂

Yumi’s Eggplant Dip

Ingredients:

Baked eggplant (77%), canola oil, water, egg, salt, lemon juice, garlic, food acid, sugar, parsley, pepper, preservative, mustard flour.

Carbs per 100g: 2.8g

Comments:

  • With 77% baked Eggplant – and Eggplant being one of the lowest carb vegetables, this is a great choice. Sad to see they have added a little sugar, I don’t think it needs it.

The Pure Produce Company – Avocado, Olive & Lime

Ingredients:

Green olives (39%), avocado (20%), extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, jalapeno peppers, lime (4%), lemon, onion, chives, salt.

Carbs per 100g: 2.9g

Comments:

  • 63% of this dip is fresh Olives, Avocado’s + Lime – so its packed full of natural goodness and good fats.
  • The strong citrus taste of this dip goes really well with a nice cheese.

Mediterranean Delite – Garlic Dip

Ingredients:

Garlic (60%), vegetable oil, salt, citric acid.

Carbs per 100g: 2.6g

Comments:

  • 60% Fresh garlic in this one so use sparingly. I probably wouldn’t use it just as a dip, but maybe a side to a nice Lebanese meal.
  • You could also mix this in with some Greek Yoghurt (Check the best brands here) and a small diced cucumber to make an amazing Tzatziki.
  • Due to the fact its mainly garlic and oil, the fat content is quite high. Mixing it with other dips or yogurt could be a sneaky way of using it.
  • Most Garlic Dips are quite low in carbs, there are a few different brands available.

Pilpel Eggplant and Capsicum

Ingredients:

Eggplant (45%), roasted red capsicum (45%), sunflower oil [antioxidant (tocopherol concentrate)], garlic, salt, acidity regulator (citric acid)

Carbs per 100g: 3.2g

Comments:

  • I LOVE this brand. They have so many great choices.
  • No added sugar 🙂
  • This is also great as a sauce with grilled meats or mixed through veggies.

Black Swan Spinach and Feta

Ingredients:

Cream cheese, vegetable oil, fetta cheese, baby spinach, onion, garlic puree, sugar, vinegar, chilli, emulsifier flavour, colour and preservatives

Carbs per 100g: 3.7g

Comments:

  • This one has a nice cheesy taste.
  • Not bad for a heavier sort of dip.

Wattle Valley – Avocado, Lime & Sea Salt

Ingredients:

Avocado (40%), neufchatel cheese, food acid, canola oil, white vinegar, lemon juice, lime juice, chives, salt, herbs and spices.

Carbs per 100g: 3.4g

Comments:

  • This was the most “mainstream” brand I found that contained no added sugar.
  • 40% REAL Avocado has got to be a winner!

Ranchero Chunky Salsa Chipotle

Ingredients:

Tomatoes (diced and concentrated puree) 70%, Chipotle 10%, Vinegar, Capsicum, Onion, Garlic, Salt, Spices, Citric acid (330)

Carbs per 100g: 3.5g

Comments:

  • Salsa seems to always show up on a platter at some stage. I love this one, as it has a little bit of a different flavour kick than your usual salsa’s.
  • No added sugar 🙂

Pilpel Eggplant Hummus

Ingredients:

Eggplant (66%), chickpeas (17%), sesame paste (8.2%), water, extra virgin olive oil, acidity regulator (citric acid), salt, preservative (potassium sorbate).

Carbs per 100g: 3.9g

Comments:

  • This is like hummus and babaganoush combo.
  • No added sugar 🙂
  • I have added sunflower seeds to this one for added texture and chilli flakes, so good.

Organic Tzatziki Dip

Ingredients:

Yogurt 88%, Cucumber 9%, garlic, hrbs, sea salt, lemon juice, citric acid, spices, calcium carbonate, xanthum gum

Carbs per 100g: 4.5g

Comments:

  • It was hard to find a tzatziki dip under 5g of carbs per 100g so I was pleased that there was one.
  • We could also make our own, but for convenience this is a great choice.
  • Gluten free

Pilpel Spinach Dip

Ingredients:

Baby English spinach (58%), cashews, extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil [antioxidant (tocopherol concentrate)], garlic, salt, preservative (potassium sorbate), vinegar, acidity regulator (citric acid), vegetable gum

Carbs per 100g: 4.7g

Comments:

  • It was hard to find a spinach dip that didn’t have sugar added. I do like this one, as the added cashews give it a ‘pesto’ vibe.
  • No added sugar 🙂 a few extra ingredients but all natural.

Chris’ – Cheese & Chive

Ingredients:

Cream cheese (66%), yogurt, canola oil, dijon mustard, onion, chive.

Carbs per 100g: 5g

Comments:

  • Another nice creamy dip. Also with zero added sugar. Thumbs up!
  • Just scraped in under 5g of carbs per 100g here and one of the highest in Protein because of the Yoghurt and Cheese base.
