Who doesn’t love chocolate???

Whether you are using in baking, or simply enjoying a little treat after dinner – to me Dark Chocolate really hits the spot.

I also love breaking up a few pieces adding some dry roasted almonds and making a little snack pack for my handbag.

Our criteria 20g carbs per 100g or less.

Our Top Pick Lindt Supreme Dark!

Lindt Supreme Dark

Ingredients:

Cocoa mass, cocoa butter, low fat cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla beans. Dark chocolate contains: cocoa solids 90% min. May contain tree nuts, soy and milk

Carbs per 100g: 12.5g

Comments:

  • This is by far my favourite Dark Chocolate. Looking at the ingredient list, you can see how simple it is – no nasty ingredients at all.
  • At 90% Cocoa it is top quality.
  • You get 10 large flat squares per block so that means each square is just 1.25g of carbs.

2 of these and a black coffee is one of my favourite treats 🙂

Coles Belgian 85% Dark Chocolate

Ingredients:

Cocoa Mass, Sugar, emulsifer, (soy lecithin) Contains 85% cocoa solids.

Carbs per 100g: Carbs 16.2g

Comments:

  • The only addition to this ingredient list that makes it not so desirable is the Soy Lecithin, and thats not the end of the world in the small amount that would be in here.
  •  Would be a great option in the Extreme Dark Lindt isn’t available.
  • Pretty good for a supermarket brand.

Cadbury Coco Dark

Ingredients:

Cocoa mass, cocoa butter, cocoa powder, sugar, flavour, emulsifier (soy lecithin), milk solids. Dark chocolate contains cocoa solids 86%.

Carbs per 100g: Carbs 18.3g

Comments:

  • The only addition to this ingredient list that makes it not so desirable is the Soy Lecithin, and thats not the end of the world in the small amount that would be in here.
  •  Good to see Cadbury is stepping up with this healthier option compared to its usual sugar and carb loaded blocks.

Lindt 85% Extra Dark

Ingredients:

Cocoa mass, fat reduced cocoa powder, coco butter, demerara sugar, natural bourbon vanilla beans.

Carbs per 100g: 19g

Comments:

  • Pretty impressive ingredients list, but that this typical of the Lindt range, which is awesome 🙂
  •  This would be on par with Cadbury Coco Dark. It would come down to which brand you preferred. 🙂

Moser Roth Private Chocolatiers 85%

Ingredients:

Cocoa mass, cocoa butter, sugar, alkalised reduced fat reduced cocoa powder, Emulsifer (322 from soy), Vanilla extract 85% cocoa solids

Carbs per 100g: 20g

Comments:

  • This can be found in Aldi
  • It has soy, so best avoided if you are not a fan of soy products.

Well Naturally No Added Sugar

Ingredients:

Cocoa mass & cocoa butter (70% cocoa solids), poly dextrose (soluble dietary fibre), erythritol, soy lecithin, natural flavour, stevia (natural sweetener).

Carbs per 100g: 5.4g

Comments:

OK – This one really comes down to what you want. Yes there are some less than perfect ingredients but it is also super low carb. I personally prefer the Lindt, because it is all natural and still really low carb – but if you are on a Keto diet then maybe this one is for you.

Coles Simply Less – Dark Chocolate

Ingredients:

Maltitol, Cocoa Mass, Coco butter, Emulsifers (322, (soy), 476) Natural Vanilla Flavour 36% cocoa solids

Carbs per 100g: 11.2g

Comments:

  • One of the lowest carb option, but only 1.4g than Lindt extreme dark. This also doesn’t have that super bitter 90% dark chocolate taste.
  • This also comes in portion sized packets, which are great for people that love having it measured out for you.

This again would be personal preference. If you love that indulgent bitter taste of super dark chocolate than opt for Lindt 90% -I prefer a higher cocoa % if I am going to have chocolate.
